Competition Dancing

What Is Competition Dancing?
We encourage any student who wants to test his or her skill in a larger arena to consider competition Pro-Am dancing. Your instructor can design a lesson program that will get you ready to compete against dancers at your skill level at local and regional Dancesport Championships. It will give you a chance to take your dancing to levels beyond social dancing.

Competitions cover all styles of dancing: International and American style; latin and ballroom, and even specialty categories such as Theater Arts. Contestant categories from Newcomer to Championship assure that you will be dancing with other dancers at your level. Your instructor has all the details, and will help you select the dances and categories for your first "Comp."

If competition dancing sounds like something you'd like to do, now is the time to start. You can travel as little or as much as your schedule allows. There are even local competitions you can participate in. We'll take you step by step through this exciting process. If you want to join our winning team, call anytime and we can get you started.

The National Dance Council of America (NDCA)has a full schedule of competitions throughout the year. You can see their 2011 calendar by clicking on the link. Other organizations offer comps, so if you do not see one that suits your schedule, speak to someone at the studio, and we will find a comp at a time that works for you.
